About
William McCracken is an American composer from Annapolis, Maryland. Growing up both as a lover of video games and a trumpet player, he writes music that seeks to capture his love for the interactive medium, as well as explore and incorporate his past and present interests of classical, jazz, progressive and electronic music.
Recently, he has composed the music for the game jam projects Shrimp Away and King’s Taster, the former of which won 20th in the audio category 7th place overall in Comfy Jam: Summer in 2026.
In 2024 he graduated with his Bachelors in Music with a concentration in Composition from Towson University where he studied under Dr. William Kleinsasser. While at Towson he was the recipient of the 2023 Talent Award for the Composition Division for his piece Invisible Cities. He was also selected to have his works performed on the 2024 PRISM showcase concert, and a concert for visiting members from the National Association of Schools of Music.
William was also a participant of the 2026 Summer edition of the Screen Music Program in Belluno, Italy, and has been an eager attendee of events such as MAGFest and GameSoundCon.
When not composing, William spends his time playing board games with friends as well as performing and arranging with Modern Hornfare, a video game trumpet choir associated with the Baltimore Gamer Symphony Orchestra.
